Problems With Contact Lenses

* If you experience problems with your contact lenses, please consult your optician

Many of the problems that occur with the use of contact lenses occur because of the build up of proteins and other materials on the lens surface. Such deposits, which my also include invisible specs of dirt, can cause irritation of the eye, and may ultimately lead to inflammation.

Below are some of the key issues to look out for:

  • If one or both eyes are becoming unusually red
  • Discomfort / irritation / itching of one or both eyes
  • Reduced vision in one or both eyes
  • You are becomming increasingly sesnitive to light
  • You can't wear your lenses as long as you used to
  • Your lenses become dirty very quickly during contact lens use

If you notice any of the above problems - make sure that you contact your optician at the earliest available opportunity. If possible, revert to wearing glasses during this time until your problem is resolved, but under no circumstances use glasses or other contact lenses that you have not been prescribed.
